ASCP BOC credentials that become legacy credentials can no longer be earned. However, professionals who have previously earned them may participate in the Credential Maintenance Program (CMP).
To maintain a valid ASCP BOC legacy credential, participation in the ASCP BOC CMP is voluntary, with the exception of DPT(ASCP) and qualifications, for which CMP is mandatory.

To ensure the integrity of the CMP, the ASCP Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) audits a percentage of CMP declarations.
You will be notified if your CMP declaration is selected for audit. If selected for audit, you will be required to submit documentation verifying completion of all continuing education activities (CEs) submitted on your CMP declaration. Learn more about the CMP Audit Procedure.
After successfully completing the ASCP BOC Credential Maintenance Program (CMP), credential holders will receive access to an electronic renewal letter that indicates their credential and its valid dates.
Beginning January 1, 2026, all individuals who successfully complete ASCP BOC CMP will also receive a digital badge through Credly. Read about ASCP BOC digital badges.
Beginning January 1, 2026, CMP fees for all credentials will increase by $10, except for those in low and middle-income countries.
This fee is required to reinstate an expired credential; it is paid in addition to the CMP application fee.
You are eligible for this reduced fee if you hold multiple qualifications with the same expiration date, or that expire within three months of each other. This reduced CMP application fee will be charged for the second (or more) qualification. A separate CMP declaration is required for each qualification, and they must be submitted on the same business day to receive the reduced fee.
Individuals with multiple ASCP BOC credentials may be eligible to synchronize their CMP cycle end dates. Read details and instructions on how to submit a request.
Note: CMP fees are non-refundable.
