Foreign Transcript Evaluations

If you have completed your education outside the United States or Canada, your academics must be evaluated by an acceptable foreign transcript evaluation agency.

The foreign transcript evaluation must:

  • be sent directly from the agency to the ASCP BOC
  • include a U.S. educational equivalency statement
  • be an original or certified copy* of the transcript evaluation (*A certified copy is a photocopy of the original transcript evaluation, stamped and signed by the evaluation agency.)

Applicants applying for a route with specific educational requirements must provide a transcript evaluation containing a course-by-course breakdown. The ASCP BOC reserves the right to request a course-by-course evaluation from all applicants.

The ASCP BOC reserves the right to request a foreign transcript evaluation from any applicant with education outside of the U.S.

All foreign transcript evaluations are subject to audit.

For more information on how to complete your transcript evaluation, please contact an acceptable foreign transcript evaluation agency.

Academic Coursework Requirements

  • Courses must be obtained at an acceptable educational institution
  • To be accepted for academic credit requirements, the official transcript must verify that the course was:
    • 100 level or above
    • passed
    • credit-bearing
  • If the eligibility requirement specifies biology and chemistry:
    • science courses completed as part of a laboratory training program may be counted
    • courses listed on the official transcript must be clearly identified as being within the biology or chemistry departments (e.g., having a course code of BIO or CHEM)
    • courses not clearly identified as biology or chemistry that the applicant believes should be counted may be accepted if documentation is provided

Please note: Continuing education courses do not count toward fulfilling academic requirements.

Important Information

  • All academic requirements are a minimum requirement, so a higher degree can be used to verify eligibility; see examples below:
    • If a baccalaureate degree is required, a master's degree or a Doctorate would meet that minimum requirement
