BOC BOG Executive Committee 

The American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) Board of Governors (BOG) Executive Committee consists of the officers of the BOG. They are tasked with identifying priorities and developing goals, objectives, and key performance indicators. The committee provides oversight of strategic planning and evaluating both short- and long-term goals.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and recommend priorities for the ASCP BOC.  
  • Propose long-range goals and strategies while studying the ASCP BOC’s external and internal environment for the next three to five years.  
  • Review and evaluate progress toward attaining the ASCP BOC’s short-range goals. 
  • Review, in conjunction with the BOG Finance Committee, ASCP BOC budget materials.  

If urgent business arises, the Executive Committee shall be empowered to act on behalf of the BOG, until the full board convenes a scheduled or special meeting.

Time Commitment 

  • Meets monthly by conference call and in-person prior to each BOG meeting.
  • Additional meetings may be scheduled at the request of the BOG Chair.

Term(s) 

  • Volunteers are elected by majority vote of the BOG and serve for one year, with the exception of the Chair, who serves a 2-year term.  

Requirement(s) 

The Executive Committee shall consist of the Chair, Past Chair and/or Chair-elect, Secretary, Financial Officer, American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) Representative, Association of Genetic Technologists (AGT) Representative, Member-at-large and a Participating Society Representative from one of the following:

  • American Association of Pathologists’ Assistants (AAPA)
  • American Society of Microbiology (ASM)
  • American Society of Cytopathology (ASC)
  • Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB)
  • National Society for Histotechnology (NSH)
