The ASCP BOC takes examination security seriously. To protect the value of ASCP BOC credentials, examinees are required to keep all examination content confidential.
American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) credentialing examinations are protected by copyright law. When your students apply for credentialing ASCP BOC, they agree to a legal statement stating, in part:
“I understand that this examination and all test questions are the exclusive property of the Board of Certification and are protected by copyright law. Because of the confidential nature of these copyright materials, I agree not to retain, copy, disclose or reveal any part of these examination materials . . ."
Remind your students not to share any specific exam content, including recalled items or answer choices, with anyone, including peers, instructors, and future applicants. Read more about Examination Integrity.
Starting in 2020, an ethics reminder has been incorporated into all republished examinations. Examinees are required to agree to a statement at the end of their exam, confirming that they will not share examination items and that they understand this action violates copyright laws.
Additionally, applicants receive an email the day after their examination, reminding them of the multiple pledges they have signed, which affirm their commitment to not sharing examination material. The reminders clearly state that if examinees share such information and are caught, they risk having their certification revoked and may be permanently barred from taking any ASCP BOC examinations in the future.
