PPR Information

 ASCP BOC Credential Examinations

Each ASCP BOC credentialing examination has a minimum passing standard. Earning an ASCP BOC credential by passing the examination provides evidence that an examinee possesses the essential knowledge and skills to practice safely and effectively.

The ASCP BOC uses a criterion-referenced methodology for all examinations. All examinees are compared to the minimum passing standard. A candidate's score does not depend on the performance of other examinees.

Most ASCP BOC certification examinations use computerized adaptive testing (CAT), in which each examinee receives a unique set of examination items. All ASCP BOC examination scores are reported as a scaled score, as scaled scores provide a metric to equivalently assess examinees' final scores. The scaled score is based on the number of correctly answered questions and the difficulty level of the questions. The minimum passing score for all certification examinations is 400. The lowest attainable score is 100 and the highest attainable score is 999. For full details, see About the Examination.

PPR Information

Your students’ examination details will be available on your program's PPR 10 business days after they have taken their examination. If any student requests that their examination score not be released, you will not see their individual score results on your PPR. However, their scores will be included in your overall program data.

Individual student data available in your program’s PPR data is intended to be confidential. Students’ total examination or subtest scores should not be used for purposes beyond verifying that they have met the minimum passing standard of the credentialing examination. See complete details about Sharing PPR Information.
