The ASCP BOC is not a regulatory agency and does not regulate licensure requirements within the United States (U.S.) or internationally.

Several states within the U.S. accept ASCP BOC credentials for licensure purposes. You must order primary source verification of your ASCP BOC credential to be sent to the appropriate state board. Do not order verification of your credentials before you have received your exam score results.

California offers state-licensure-only examinations through the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC). If you pass a state-licensure-only examination, you will not be ASCP BOC credentialed.
California Licensure-only examination results are automatically submitted to the California Laboratory Field Services (CLFS) electronically on a weekly basis. It is not necessary for you to place a verification order through the ASCP BOC website to submit your licensure-only examination result to California.

New York offers state-licensure-only examinations through the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC). If you pass a state-licensure-only examination, you will not be ASCP BOC credentialed.
New York Licensure-only examination results are automatically submitted to the New York State Education Department (NYSED) electronically on a weekly basis. It is not necessary for you to place a verification order through the ASCP BOC website to submit your licensure-only examination result to New York.
