As part of our efforts to contribute globally to the highest standards of patient safety, the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) works to establish Advisory Boards in countries requesting additional credentialing support and representation. International Advisory Board volunteers, established across 6 continents, are typically program directors of medical laboratory educational programs, laboratory supervisors, and/or representatives from a country or region's medical laboratory and/or pathology societies.

Advisory Board compositions are reviewed annually to determine volunteer characteristics that would best complement regional and Advisory Board priorities. To ensure diverse Advisory Board representation, focus is placed on professional title, type and size of facility, area of expertise, and geographic region. Attainment of ASCP BOC credentials, publications, professional recommendations from current Advisory Board members, and experience and degrees in laboratory medicine and/or pathology or related specialties are key considerations.
