Value of Certification Task Force

The American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) Value of Certification (VOC) Task Force provides insights, guidance, and thought leadership to the ASCP BOC in advancing the recognition and value of BOC credentials across the professional landscape.

Responsibilities  

  • Evaluate, assess, and promote the value of certification and credentialing 
  • Advise on strategies to strengthen the visibility, credibility, and relevance of ASCP BOC credentials among stakeholders
  • Collects, organizes, and interprets feedback data to uncover themes, generate insights, and guide continuous improvement
  • Creates and shares concise stories and digital content that showcase the real-world value of ASCP BOC credentials 
  • Defines and communicates the unique benefits of ASCP BOC credentials for professionals, employers, and patients
  • Supports professional growth by highlighting pathways, tools, and resources linked to ASCP BOC credentials

Time Commitment 

  • Meets quarterly and may convene for additional smaller subgroup sessions as needed to engage volunteers in specific projects or initiatives. 

Term(s) 

  • Volunteers are appointed annually by the Board of Governors (BOG) Chair.  

Requirement(s) 

  • The VOC is comprised of volunteers from the ASCP BOC BOG and other invited subject matter experts who bring diverse perspectives from education, practice, advocacy, and leadership in the medical laboratory profession.
