  • 23 Organizations asked Homeland Security to exempt pathologists and laboratory professionals from President Trump’s $100,000 H-1B fee

The American Society for Clincal Pathology (ASCP), ASCP Board of Certification (BOC), and  and 21 other organizations urged the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to provide a National Interest Exception from the $100,000 H-1B fee for pathologists and laboratory professionals. Many of the organizations joining the letter are members of the Medical and Public Health Laboratory Workforce Coalition (MPHLWC).

In the letter, the signers wrote: “the United States is not training enough pathologists and laboratory professionals to meet demand…” and that “The H-1B visa is essential to addressing these shortages, especially in the rural and underserved areas in which these visa holders tend to work.”
