In-Service Examinations for Fellows in a Fellowship

ASCP offers an array of Fellowship Exams to help pathologists broaden their knowledge.

Fellow Transfusion Medicine In-Service Examination (TMISE)

The Fellow Transfusion Medicine In-Service Examination consists of approximately 120 multiple-choice questions from acknowledged experts in the field and is designed to test Transfusion Medicine Fellows on their medical knowledge; the examination is constructed by members of the ASCP In-Service committee in collaboration with the Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB).

Fellow In-Service Hematopathology Examination (FISHE)

The Fellow In-Service Hematopathology Examination consists of at least 100 multiple-choice questions,  many with images , from acknowledged experts in the field and is designed to test Hematopathology Fellows on their medical knowledge; the examination is constructed by members of the ASCP In-Service committee in collaboration with the Society for Hematopathology (SH).

Fellow Forensic In-Service Examination (FISE)

The Fellow Forensic In-Service Examination consists of at least 100 multiple-choice questions, many with images,  from acknowledge experts in the field and is designed to test Forensic Medicine Fellows on their medical knowledge; the examination is constructed by members of the ASCP In-Service committee in collaboration with the National Association of Medical Examiners.

Fellow Neuropathology In-Service Examination (NPISE)

The Fellow Neuropathology In-Service Examination consists of at least 100 multiple-choice items, many with images, from acknowledged experts in the field and is designed to test Neuropathology fellows on their medical knowledge; the examination is constructed by members of the ASCP In-Service committee in collaboration with the American Association of Neuropathologists (AANP).

Fellow Pediatric In-Service Examination (PISE)

The Fellow Pediatric In-Service Examination consists of at least 90 multiple-choice items, many with images, from acknowledged experts in the field and is designed to test Pediatric Pathology fellows on the medical knowledge the examination is constructed by members of the ASCP In-Service committee in collaboration with the Society for Pediatric Pathology.

Registration Deadline for 2025 Fall Fellows Exams

July 18, 2025

Administration Dates

The examination may be administered anytime between August 18–August 29, 2026.

Performance Reports

Computer-generated individual score reports and percentile rankings will be provided to the Fellows and Program Directors.
