Pathologist Council

The Pathologist Council is the voice of the Society’s Pathologist members. The Council provides advice and recommendations to the ASCP Board of Directors through the Commission on Membership on how the Society may best meet the needs of its respective members.

  • Facilitates communication between the ASCP and its Pathologist members.
  • Develops strategies for recruitment and retention of Pathologists.
  • Promotes advocacy on issues affecting Pathologists.
  • Recommends new products and services for Pathologist members.
  • Identifies opportunities for local member involvement in ASCP activities.
  • Represents the ASCP to Pathologists, other organizations, and the public.

Requirements

  • Be an ASCP Fellow member in good standing.
  • Be available to meet via conference call, and in-person once a year. Conference calls are conducted during ASCP’s normal operating business hours, Monday through Friday.
  • Reliable access to internet and email.

Time Commitment

  • Attend 1 Leadership Forum onsite meeting per year.
  • Participate in 3 conference calls per year.
  • Serve on workgroups as needed and/or desired. (Workgroup conference calls are scheduled as needed.)

Committee Composition

  • Chair – Serves a 1-year term.
  • Chair-Elect – The Chair-Elect is selected from sitting Council members, and serves a 1- year term.
  • Immediate Past Chair – Serves a 1-year term
  • Members – 9 positions. Members serve a 3-year term, renewable once for a total of 6 years.
  • Terms begin and end with each Annual Business meeting which corresponds with the ASCP Annual Meeting.
