Babatunde Oloyede, MLS(ASCP)^CM, is chair-elect of ASCP’s Council of Laboratory Professionals. Commander Oloyede came to the United States in 1995 after graduating from the Medical Laboratory Science Program at the University of Lagos Teaching Hospital Lagos, Nigeria. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and later enrolled in the Naval School of Health Sciences for the Medical Laboratory Science Program. He currently serves at the Federal Medical Center Butner in North Carolina, where he oversees the largest Clinical Chemistry department of the Referral Federal Medical Laboratory in the Mid-Atlantic and South Central region of the United States.

Amberly Nunez, MD, FASCP

“I renew my membership with ASCP yearly because I truly believe that we, as a laboratory community, are ‘Stronger Together.’ In order for us to make any advancements or significant changes to our professions and to the quality of patient care we must unite and become one voice. Membership in ASCP is also a way for me to remain current on the most up-to-date practice changes, review and refresh my knowledge with CME products such as PRISE, and develop meaningful relationships with other pathologists and laboratory professionals across the country via ASCP volunteer committees and councils.” 

Amberly L. Nunez, MD, FASCP, earned her undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University in 2004 and her medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, New Orleans, in 2008. In 2012, she completed a combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she served as Anatomic Pathology Chief Resident. She then completed a Cytopathology fellowship at UAB in 2013. Dr. Nunez is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Cytopathology. She has been practicing in the community setting with Pathology Group of Louisiana in Baton Rouge since 2013.
