ASCP’s Laboratory Workforce Resolution Adopted at 2026 AMA HOD Meeting 

The AMA House of Delegates adopted a new policy urging national action to address the worsening shortage of medical laboratory professionals. The new policy is the result of a resolution that was submitted by ASCP’s AMA delegation in order to elevate the laboratory workforce as a national priority within organized medicine. Read More.  

New Legislation Clarifies CMS Authority Over Laboratory Developed Tests 

New federal legislation could reshape oversight of laboratory developed tests by reaffirming CMS authority, not the FDA, and creating a clearer path for innovation in diagnostic testing. Advancing Cervical Cancer Screening Through Data and AI 

ASCP and AWHP launched a multisite collaborative initiative to address gaps in cervical cancer screening in the U.S. Using large-scale datasets and a custom NLP-based algorithm, the project aims to transform unstructured pathology reports into usable data to better assess screening outcomes across demographics and regions.
