RSV Carries Higher Risk For Most Severe Outcomes When Compared With COVID-19, Influenza In Younger Hospitalized Pediatric Patients, Study Finds

Infectious Disease Advisor (7/29, Basilio) reports, “In younger hospitalized pediatric patients, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) carries significantly higher risk for most severe outcomes but lower risk for in-hospital mortality when compared with COVID-19 and influenza, according to study findings.” The researchers said, “The substantial clinical burden of RSV, COVID-19 and influenza in young children observed in this study underscores the importance of continued public health measures to prevent infection in this age group.” The findings were published in the Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal.
