Study Finds Long-Acting Lipoglycopeptides Effective As Step-Down Treatment For Severe Gram-Positive Bacterial Infections

Infectious Disease Advisor (7/28, Basilio) reports, “Long-acting lipoglycopeptides (laLGPs) are effective as step-down treatment for severe gram-positive bacterial infections and may be an appropriate alternative to standard care antibiotic therapy, according to study findings.” Researchers found that “in patients with severe gram-positive bacterial infections, outcomes were comparable between those who received long-acting lipoglycopeptides vs standard care antibiotics as step-down therapy.” The findings were published in JAMA Network Open.
