Infectious Disease Advisor (7/21, Nye) reports a study found that “the duration of antibiotic therapy for gram-negative bloodstream infections (GN-BSIs) varies across hospitals in the United States, with the majority of affected inpatients receiving therapy for more than 10 days.” Researchers found that “patients hospitalized with gram-negative bloodstream infections commonly received prolonged antibiotic therapy, particularly those infected with multidrug-resistant and non-Enterobacterales organisms.” The findings were published in Open Forum Infectious Diseases.
