Infectious Disease Advisor (7/16, Nye) reports, “Physical function decline in HIV may be associated with high BMI and inflammation levels, previous treatment for symptoms of depression, and the presence of early signs of functional impairment, according to results of a study.” The findings suggest that “in patients with HIV, those with high BMI or inflammation levels, a history of treatment for depression, or early signs of functional impairment should be targeted for early interventions to reduce risk for physical function decline.” The findings were published in Open Forum Infectious Diseases.
