Uganda Declares End To Ebola Outbreak
April 28, 2025
Reuters (4/26, Biryabarema) reported Uganda announced the end of its latest Ebola outbreak on Saturday, three months after confirming cases in Kampala. The outbreak, caused by the Sudan strain, was declared over after 42 days without new cases following the discharge of the last confirmed patient. The health ministry shared the news on the X platform, though it did not update the total caseload. As of early March, there were at least ten cases and two deaths. This marks Uganda’s ninth Ebola outbreak since 2000, often attributed to the country’s tropical forests.
