MedPage Today (4/4, Bankhead) reported, “Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of patients with glioma had a high concordance with tumor DNA and showed potentially useful prognostic potential, a small prospective study showed.” Investigators found that “CSF-ctDNA was detected in 19 of 32 evaluable patients, and CSF-ctDNA agreed with tumor mutation profiles in 16 of 19 cases. In contrast, two patients had ctDNA in plasma and both had pathogenic gene variants found in associated tumors.” The data also indicated that “in patients with CSF-ctDNA, variant allelic frequency below the median value was associated with significantly worse progression-free survival and overall survival.” The findings were published in Annals of Oncology.
