Measles Vaccinations Increasing In Some Areas Impacted By Outbreaks

March 27, 2025

ABC News (3/26, Kekatos) reports the CDC has confirmed 378 measles cases so far this year, with the majority being “among those who are unvaccinated or whose vaccination status is unknown.” In response, “measles vaccination rates appear to be increasing in some areas of the U.S. that have been affected by outbreaks this year.” At least 173,362 MMR vaccine doses have been administered across Texas this year, according to state data – “higher than the number of doses administered in the state over the same period since at least 2020.” Lubbock County is not “at the epicenter of the outbreak,” but the “number of people being vaccinated has increased,” according to Katherine Wells, the county’s director of public health. In New Mexico, data from state health officials show “that between Feb. 1 and March 24 of this year, more than 13,100 MMR doses have been administered.”
