Brazil State Confirms First Case Of New Mpox Strain

Reuters (3/7, Romani) reported Brazil’s San Paulo state “confirmed on Friday a case of the new mpox strain, the first case of clade Ib mpox in the region.” According to a statement, “the strain was detected in a 29-year old woman who lives in the Sao Paulo metropolitan region who had contact with a relative coming from the Democratic Republic of Congo.”
