Survey Suggests HIV Providers’ Antiretroviral Therapy Approaches Depend On Patient Needs
March 05, 2025
The American Journal of Managed Care (3/4, Bonavitacola) reports a survey of US healthcare providers found that “antiretroviral therapy (ART) was prescribed in various ways,” with patient needs “often used to cater treatment more effectively to each individual.” The study “aimed to assess ART use strategies through hypothetical case-scenarios for [people living with HIV] PLHIV who have comorbidities or are pregnant.” The researchers concluded that the “responses provide insight into provider practice patterns and the survey responses could be used [as] an educational tool for ART decision making for HIV providers when faced with co-occurring conditions in real life practice.” Results from the study were published in AIDS Research and Therapy.
