CDC Dispatches Officials To Help Tackle Growing Texas Measles Outbreak

The New York Times (3/4, Stolberg) reports the CDC has dispatched its “disease detectives” to West Texas to assist with the ongoing measles outbreak. The CDC posted the announcement on its X account. The CDC’s support, termed Epi-Aid, will last one to three weeks, providing local officials with assistance. CNN (3/4, Mukherjee) says that in a Tuesday update, “Texas reported 159 measles cases, including 22 people who are hospitalized. The majority of the cases are in Gaines County, which is home to a large unvaccinated Mennonite population.”
