Nearly Half Of Pediatric Patients Hospitalized With Influenza Do Not Receive Antiviral Therapy, Study Suggests

Infectious Disease Advisor (3/3, Nye) reports study results suggest that “nearly half of children hospitalized with influenza did not receive antiviral therapy.” Researchers concluded, “Future studies could focus on identifying barriers to treatment and improving clinical influenza testing, providing antiviral treatment for children with influenza-associated hospitalizations with >2 days of symptoms, and standardizing care both within and across institutions.” The study was published in Clinical Infectious Diseases.
