Serum Vitamin D, Serum Zinc Levels Are Negatively Related With Alopecia Areata Risk, Research Suggests

Dermatology Advisor (1/30, Nye) reports, “Serum vitamin D and serum zinc levels were negatively related with alopecia areata risk, according to the results of a systematic review and meta-analysis.” Researchers found that “serum copper levels did not differ significantly between patients with alopecia areata and controls...in 5 studies comprising 339 patients.” The findings were published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology.
