Vaccination Against COVID-19 Not Linked To Increased Risk For Incident Thyroid Diseases, Study Suggests

Endocrinology Advisor (1/14, Nye) reports, “Vaccination against COVID-19 is associated with an exacerbation of existing hypothyroidism but not an increased risk for incident thyroid diseases, according to results of a study.” Researchers found that “recurrence of hyperthyroidism was not associated with the first...or second...doses, whereas exacerbation of hypothyroidism was associated with the first dose...but not the second dose.” The findings were published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.
