Study Suggests Existence Of Many Genes Beyond CFTR That Influence CF Severity, Treatment Responses

Cystic Fibrosis News Today (10/22, Shapiro) reports, “There could be many genes beyond CFTR that influence cystic fibrosis (CF) severity and treatment responses, according to a review study.” Researchers found that “across 70 different studies, dozens of these so-called genetic modifiers were found to affect the severity of various CF symptoms.” Investigators found that “mutations in a few of them were linked to how well patients responded to treatment.” The findings were published in Human Mutation.
