The AP (10/8, Khaled) reports, “Cholera cases in war-torn Sudan increased by nearly 40% in less than two weeks, according to the latest figures, alarming the U.N. health officials, who long warned about the outbreak and the lack of proper response since it was reported in July.” The country’s “health ministry said Monday that there were 21,288 cases across 11 of the 18 states during this period, including 626 deaths.” Those numbers mark “a significant increase from 15,577 cases and 506 deaths reported on September 26.” The cases are mostly “in the eastern states.”
