Infectious Disease Advisor (10/7, Basilio) reports, “The average annual incidence of severe respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) was higher among residents of skilled nursing and assisted living facilities vs community-dwelling adults, according to study results.” Researchers found that “incidence of RSV hospitalization increased with age with an average annual incidence across 3 seasons of 91 per 100,000, 139 per 100,000, and 191 per 100,000 population in community-dwelling adults aged 65 to 74, 75 to 84, and 85 and older, respectively.” The findings were published in The Journal of Infectious Diseases.
