Anti-Tryptase Antibody Does Not Inhibit High Levels Of Tryptase In BLF In Patients With Uncontrolled Asthma, Study Suggests

Pulmonology Advisor (10/2, Stong) reports, “An 1800 mg dose of MTPS9579A, an anti-tryptase antibody, did not inhibit the high levels of tryptase in bronchial lining fluid (BLF) in patients with uncontrolled asthma, according to study findings.” The lack of effect “on active or total tryptase levels in the lower airway, even with 1800 mg IV, likely indicates that drug concentrations were not sufficient to completely saturate the high tryptase levels.” The findings were published in Allergy.
