Healio (9/18, Monostra) reports, “Adults with type 2 diabetes using metformin before or during a SARS-CoV-2 infection may have a lower risk for long COVID than those using other diabetes medications, according to” research. Investigators came to this conclusion after analyzing “electronic health record data from the National COVID Cohort Collaborative and the National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network of adults aged 21 years and older with type 2 diabetes who had a positive SARS-CoV-2 test from March 2020 to November 2022.” The findings were published in Diabetes Care.
