June 10, 2026

  • ASCP proudly participated in the 2026 AMA Specialty Showcase to highlight the critical role of pathology and laboratory medicine in quality patient care

The American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) participated in the 2026 American Medical Association (AMA) Career Resources Event, highlighting the vital role of laboratory medicine and pathology during the AMA Specialty Showcase.

On Friday, June 5, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, the event brought together hundreds of medical students, residents, and physicians to explore diverse career pathways across the medical field. As part of the broader schedule, the Specialty Showcase offered attendees the opportunity to engage directly with leading specialty societies—including ASCP—and gain valuable insight into the evolving landscape of healthcare careers. Dr. Will Finn and ASCP President, Dr. Greg Davis, represented ASCP at the showcase.

Connecting Future Physicians to Pathology: ASCP’s presence served as a hub for meaningful dialogue about the essential contributions of pathologists and laboratory professionals to patient care.

Attendees who visited the ASCP exhibit:

  • Learned about career pathways in clinical pathology and laboratory medicine

  • Explored how diagnostic testing drives patient outcomes and clinical decision-making

  • Connected with ASCP representatives, discussing training, workforce opportunities, and professional development

Through these interactions at the Specialty Showcase and similar events, ASCP aims to increase awareness of pathology as a dynamic, patient-centered specialty and inspire the next generation of physicians to consider careers in laboratory medicine.
