Being named an ASCP Forty under 40 in 2021 was an incredible honor. At the time I was an Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia. Since then, there have been quite a few life changes, the most important of which is the birth of my two wonderful children! In 2023, we moved across the country when I accepted a position at the University of Colorado in the Department of Pathology and I was promoted to Associate Professor. It’s hard to believe that I have been here for almost two years. At the University of Colorado, I sign out Dermatopathology and GI pathology and love the opportunity to work with our outstanding Residents and Fellows. I also enjoy working with our clinical colleagues and truly appreciate the work that they do.
Since being named an ASCP Forty under 40, there have been many professional accomplishments that I am proud of. Clinically, I have improved as a diagnostician, and I learned how to navigate the medical system with the goal of providing excellent care for our patients. In 2022, I edited a volume on Dermatopathology in Seminars in Diagnostic Pathology and was chosen to be on their Editorial Board. I was recently asked to be an Assistant Editor for the Gastrointestinal Pathology Section of American Journal of Clinical Pathology. At the University of Colorado, I am very involved in our Residency Program and medical school education. We are working on re-activating our Dermatopathology fellowship, and I cannot wait for it to start.
I am honored and grateful to have been selected as an ASCP 40 Under Forty. The connections and career development opportunities have been so valuable.
