Being named among the recipients of the prestigious ASCP’s 40 under Forty award in 2023 was not only a special honor that validates my hard work and achievements but also serves as inspiration for my colleagues based in resource-limited countries. This humbling experience made my resolve to pursue professional excellence even stronger and brought me a step closer to realizing my dream. Since the award, I have started Pathology residency training at Montefiore Medical Center, a journey that is so far filled with learning, networking, and professional growth.

Courtesy of the award, I enrolled in and completed certificate training at the ASCP’s University of Pathology Informatics. In addition, this rare opportunity has opened more doors for me at various levels. This filled me with a sense of responsibility and sparked my desire to contribute my quota to our noble association, ASCP and to also give back to the less privileged communities by enrolling as a member in both the ASCP’s resident council and Global Health Committee in 2024. These opportunities, I believe, will further hone my leadership experience and enable me to serve the noble field of laboratory medicine.

Receiving the 40 Under Forty award has strengthened my belief that selfless service, hard work, and dedication will not only be noticed but will also position one for a brighter and more promising future. As a result of this award, I am most proud of being a living role model for my colleagues to emulate.
