Breann Zeches

MD

Breann Zeches, MD, is a neuropathology fellow at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She completed her AP/CP residency at East Carolina University Health/Vidant Medical Center, where she also graduated from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University earning a Distinction in Research. Her clinical work focuses on the diagnosis of central nervous system diseases, blending histology, immunohistochemistry, and molecular studies to provide clear, actionable answers for patient care. 

Her research focuses on clinicopathologic studies in neuropathology, particularly neurodegenerative disease and medical education. She has presented nationally at the ASCP Annual Meeting and the American Association of Neuropathologists, as well as internationally, earning awards for her work in neurodegenerative disorders. She also contributes to the field by reviewing scholarly works. 

Dr. Zeches serves as the ASCP Career Ambassador Committee Head of the Resident Council and as a member of the Scholar Committee. She is passionate about mentorship and committed to creating opportunities that help the next generation of laboratory professionals envision their future in the field. 

What drives her most is making neuropathology approachable—not only for colleagues in other specialties, but for students and patients—while advancing science through collaboration and mentorship.
