Danielle Fortuna, MD, is an attending pathologist at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) with a subspecialty in GI/hepatobiliary pathology and service in autopsy pathology and is the director of Surgical Pathology. Her area of concentration is medical education, and her leadership roles are in education, operations in surgical pathology, the amazing histology lab, and the wonderful gross room. She teaches pathology in the Pathologists’ Assistants program at Drexel University and has recently stepped into the role of Medical Director of this program.
Before becoming an attending, she completed medical school at Jefferson Medical College, followed by an AP/CP residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and a GI/hepatobiliary pathology fellowship at HUP. Before medicine, she studied mathematics.
Danielle Fortuna was born, raised, educated, and trained in the city of brotherly love. As a pathologist and teacher, she aims to create positive learning spaces and build engaging, accessible, and empowering educational content and experiences.
