Taylor Dusek

SBB(ASCP), CTBS

Taylor Eugene Dusek, SBB(ASCP), CTBS, is the lab manager at University Health Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. He holds a degree in biology, is certified as a Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and also holds a CTBS certification through the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB). 

In his current role, Mr. Dusek leads a dedicated team of laboratory professionals who support operating rooms and hospital outpatient departments (HOPDs), delivering critical services that impact patient care throughout the community. His passion for helping others drives his work and fuels his commitment to advancing both patient outcomes and laboratory excellence. He is particularly motivated by creating meaningful, lasting change that benefits the broader laboratory community. Among his most significant achievements are earning his SBB certification—which laid the technical and leadership foundation for his current responsibilities—and establishing a brand-new department that has introduced an innovative service model within the laboratory space. This initiative has opened new pathways for interdisciplinary collaboration and elevated the role of the lab in surgical and tissue-related care.  

Outside of work, Mr. Dusek enjoys traveling and exploring different cultures, with a special love for food. He is constantly seeking new recipes and flavors, seeing cuisine as a powerful expression of connection and creativity.
