Whitnee Brame

MS, MLS(ASCP)

Whitnee Brame, MS, MLS(ASCP), is an assistant professor of Medical Laboratory Science at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. A certified Medical Laboratory Scientist through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), she brings both academic expertise and hands-on clinical experience to her role in higher education. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science and her Master of Science in Instructional Technology, both from McNeese State University. 

Before transitioning to academia, Ms. Brame worked in the clinical laboratory setting for seven years, gaining valuable experience across multiple laboratory disciplines. At McNeese, she serves as a dedicated educator, curriculum developer, and mentor preparing future laboratory professionals through comprehensive classroom instruction and practical laboratory training. 

Driven by a strong commitment to student success and professional excellence, she is passionate about advancing the visibility and recognition of the medical laboratory science profession. She believes laboratory scientists are essential to patient care and deserve greater acknowledgment as key members of the healthcare team. 

Her current initiatives include research on the integration of virtual reality (VR) into laboratory training and leadership of the Medical Laboratory Science Association (MLSA), an active student organization engaged in both campus life and community outreach. She also serves on the university’s safety committee, reflecting her dedication to fostering a safe and supportive learning environment. 

Outside the classroom, Ms. Brame enjoys community involvement, thrift shopping, and spending quality time with her family.
