Stephen Bishop, MBA, MS, CLS, MLS(ASCP)^CM, CPHQ, serves as the market director of Laboratory Services Southern California with Dignity Health (a member of CommonSpirit). In this role, Mr. Bishop oversees operations for six acute care hospital laboratories and approximately 450 laboratory professionals. In addition, he serves as a medical service corps officer in the United States Navy Reserve. Mr. Bishop holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from Loma Linda University, along with a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from the University of Redlands.  

He is a 14-year member of the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). He is also a member of the California Association for Medical Laboratory Technology, the American College of Healthcare Executives, and the National Association for Healthcare Quality. Mr. Bishop is a California-licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist, an ASCP certified Medical Laboratory Scientist, and a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality.  

Mr. Bishop is passionate about training the next generation of laboratory leaders, raising awareness of the profession among college and high school students, and bringing the laboratory to the forefront of patient care. Mr. Bishop attributes his success to the mentors, colleagues, and teachers who guided him along the way, and he remains committed to paying that investment forward by shaping the future of laboratory medicine through leadership, service, and mentorship.
