Muhammad Ahsan, MBBS, is an anatomic pathology resident at Chughtai Institute of Pathology in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed a fellowship in Digital Pathology Communications at Loyola University Chicago and earned his medical degree from Sahiwal Medical College.
Driven by a passion for pathology education and innovation, Dr. Ahsan serves on the Educational Committee of the Digital Pathology Association (DPA) and has previously contributed as a Digital Ambassador for Cancer Cytopathology. He is the co-founder and one of the screening judges of the #PathTweetAward initiative on Twitter/X, which highlights impactful pathology educational content on social media. He also created a virtual pathology outreach program that also broadcasts free, live teaching sessions via Zoom—later archived on YouTube—to support the learning of medical students and trainees.
His academic contributions include a book chapter on the laboratory inspection and accreditation process, presentations at multiple national and international pathology conferences, and several peer-reviewed publications, including work on digital pathology validation.
With a strong interest in surgical pathology and digital pathology, he aspires to an academic career that blends clinical practice, research, innovation, and education to make pathology more accessible, connected, and collaborative on a global scale.
He is an active member of the ASCP, Digital Pathology Association (DPA), American Society of Cytopathology (ASC), International Society of Dermatopathology (ISDP), and the Pakistani-American Pathologists’ Society (PAPS). Outside of work, Dr. Ahsan enjoys exploring the arts, listening to music, and following Italian football—especially as a devoted supporter of Serie A team AS Roma.
