Innovative ASCP 2024 Workshops Prepares Medical Students, Residents and Fellows for Genomic Testing

Next-generation sequencing methods and multi-gene panels have entered clinical practice. Pathology residents and fellows won’t want to miss a genomics workshop, led by renowned experts, on Tuesday, Sept. 3 as part of the ASCP 2024 Annual Meeting in Chicago. A separate genomics workshop designed specifically for medical students will be offered on both Wednesday, Sept. 4, and Thursday, Sept. 5. Advance registration for both workshops is required.

These workshops are among the outstanding education that attendees will discover at the ASCP Annual Meeting, Sept. 3-6 in Chicago. The Annual Meeting education program is designed to meet the individual needs of laboratory professionals, pathologists, as well as residents and medical students. For residents, highlights include the popular AP/CP Rapid Review Series where they can hone their knowledge these one-hour rapid fire review sessions. This series, developed primarily for Board preparation, comprises 10 intensive, one-hour sessions each focused on a single topic area.  

In addition, the ASCP 2024 Fellowship Fair helps residents to connect with leaders of programs and fellowship opportunities and gather fellowship information from each institution. The Fellowship Fair attracts programs from around the country with 200+ open fellowship positions for you to explore, representing all pathology specialties.

The ASCP 2024 Annual Meeting offers a new feature that will appeal to all attendees are the two Deep Dive Workshops on Day 1, Tuesday, Sept. 3. ASCP has expanded the scope of the Annual Meeting to include an extra day. The Deep Diver Workshops include one focusing on artificial intelligence and its potential impact on the medical laboratory, and another on leadership.

Meanwhile, pathologists will be able to connect with colleagues and learn the latest advancements and techniques that they can apply immediately when they return home. For those looking to focus in on a subspecialty or topic area, several newly-developed tracks in surgical pathology, hematopathology and cytopathology offer a framework for how to best experience this year’s meeting. In addition, the always popular Videomicroscopy Tutorial (VMT) sessions are back.
