Enhance Your Career Growth During ASCP’s ‘The Path to Boston’
August 11, 2021
During this unprecedented time, support for career development is needed now more than ever. ASCP has created a rich series of career services in the weeks leading up to and during the ASCP 2021 Annual Meeting live in Boston and virtual.
ASCP Career Services kicks off virtually on Sept. 18 and will include a full day of career-focused events. “This is not just for job seekers, but for anyone who wants to develop and enhance their career,” said ASCP Human Resources Director Carroll Tito. “We are excited to have a guest presenter and offer a range of programming, such as a resume building workshop, a negotiation seminar and a group coaching session.”
Christina Arnold, MD, an ASCP member and professional coach, will present the negotiation seminar during the kick-off day. Dr. Arnold will also host a session on coaching tips, with an interactive question-and-answer discussion, along with exercises and live coaching.
ASCP will also offer mentoring and mock interview sessions led by volunteers from the ASCP Mentorship Program. The volunteers each bring a range of experience and backgrounds. Their names and biographies will be available in advance so that attendees can select the mentor that they would like to meet with. These sessions will be one-on-one, half hour meetings, and scheduling will be open from September 18th through October 29th. The scheduling will be done via an online tool, and participants will be able to select a date and time that best fits their schedule.
In addition, ASCP is pleased to host Robin E. Mitchell, MS, MT(ASCP), the administrative laboratory director at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, and Maggie Morrissey, director of recruiting and staffing services at Lighthouse Lab Services. Both will share their expertise during the ASCP 2021 Annual Meeting. Ms. Morrissey will host a Ted Talk on “Empowering Professionals to Advocate for Themselves.” Ms. Mitchell will host a roundtable on “Career Conversations,” with topics such as employee engagement and retention.
