Winners of Inaugural Global Health Ideation Challenge Announced

July 13, 2018

ASCP strives to support quality patient care through rapid, accurate, high quality test results for every test, every time, anywhere in the world. The ASCP Center for Global Health (CGH) is focused on finding solutions to pathology and laboratory medicine challenges around the world. In this spirit of creativity, the ASCP CGH held the inaugural ASCP Global Health Ideation Challenge during April through June of this year. We are pleased to announce the winners who submitted top solutions during the ASCP Global Health Ideation Challenge 2018 Round 2. These winners submitted solutions to questions developed from submissions during Round 1 of the challenge. Visit the Ideation Challenge website to learn more about the selected questions and solutions.

The focus of the 2018 challenge was solving global health challenges through leapfrogging, or using new technologies or approaches to circumvent traditional approaches and avoid incremental steps.

The challenge comprised two rounds. In Round 1, participants submitted problems, challenges or questions that they thought need to be addressed using leapfrogging to make ASCP's Partners for Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment in Africa initiative or similar programs focused on laboratory and diagnostic access in Africa successful. Three questions were developed from Round 1 submissions, and in Round 2, participants were asked to submit a solution to one or more of these selected questions.
