Receiving Two Or More COVID-19 Vaccine Doses Reduces Risk For Persistent Long COVID, Study Finds
June 02, 2025
Infectious Disease Advisor (5/30, Kuhns) reported a study found that “the administration of 2 or more COVID-19 vaccine doses is associated with reduced risk of developing persistent long COVID disease, highlighting the importance of adequate immunization for long-term infection control.” Researchers observed that “compared with unvaccinated patients, the risk of developing persistent long COVID was reduced in immunized patients who received either 2 vaccine doses or 3 doses. Across 8 predefined subgroups, the risk for persistent long COVID was consistently lower in patients who received at least 2 COVID-19 vaccine doses. The researchers noted similar findings between analyses performed before vs after Omicron emergence.” The study was published in The Journal of Infectious Diseases.
