Infectious Disease Advisor (9/10, Chan) reports, “Postexposure prophylaxis (PEP) with doxycycline reduces the incidence of chlamydia and syphilis infections in high-risk groups, according to study results.” Researchers found that for men who have sex with men “and transgender women, those who received doxycycline within 72 hours after unprotected sex exhibited reduced risk for chlamydia,” gonorrhea, and syphilis. The findings were published in Sexually Transmitted Infections.
