JN.1, HV.1 Variants Of SARS-CoV-2 Are Less Prevalent Among Hospitalized Adults Than The EG.5 Variant, Study Shows

Infectious Disease Advisor (8/23, Nye) reported, “The JN.1 and HV.1 variants of SARS-CoV-2 are less prevalent among hospitalized adults than the EG.5 variant, according to study results.” Across variants, investigators also discovered that when compared with outpatients, “inpatients were older (median age, 74 vs 50 years), less likely to be women (52.2% vs 60.3%), and less likely to have ever received a COVID-19 vaccine (63.9% vs 68.4%).” The findings were published in the Journal of Infectious Diseases.
