Be Recognized for Your Dedication to Your Career and Profession

Each year, ASCP recognizes a group of members who have made outstanding, lifelong contributions to the Society and the profession. The deadline to submit nominations is May 6. This article highlights ASCP awards given annually to pathologists. 

ASCP Mastership - Recognizes distinguished members (both pathologists and laboratory professionals) who have made significant contributions to the field of pathology and laboratory medicine and to ASCP.

H.P. Smith Award for Distinguished Pathology Educator
- Recognizes ASCP Fellow members with distinguished careers in pathology and laboratory medicine who embrace education, research, and administration, or service to organized pathology are ideal candidates for this award. Established in 1974, this award honors ASCP past president H.P. Smith.

Israel Davidsohn Award for Distinguished Service - Recognizes that rare individual capable of making a significant impact within ASCP through a variety of roles. Established in 1989, this prestigious award serves as a tribute to past president Israel Davidsohn, MD, FASCP, whose contributions touched every aspect of ASCP. 

Philip Levine Award for Outstanding Research - Honors dedicated ASCP members who have made significant contributions to molecular pathology, immunohematology, and/or immunopathology. Established in 1969, this award honors the late Phillip Levine, MD, FASCP, who made many contributions to pathology, including determining the etiology of Rh hemolytic disease of newborns.

Ward Burdick Award for Distinguished Service to Pathology - Recognizes noteworthy contributions to pathology through sustained service to the profession and ASCP. This prestigious award was established in 1929 to honor Ward Burdick, MD, FASCP, one of the original founders of the ASCP.

ASCP Mentorship Award - Honors ASCP members who have demonstrated excellence in mentoring by providing support, encouragement and promoting the field of pathology to students and residents.
