ASCP Celebrates Achievements of Women in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

March 14, 2022

In recognition of March as Women’s History Month, ASCP interviewed several women leaders in pathology and laboratory medicine who shared their insights and advice. Their paths to leadership have not been easy. They have overcome a variety of barriers and challenges, such as being questioned for their expertise or decision making. They have learned to stop being “people-pleasers” and to find their own voice. Now, at the pinnacles of their careers, they are helping other women along in their career advancement.

We invite you to watch their interviews and share your thoughts with ASCP by emailing communications@ascp.org.

As Valerie Fitzhugh, MD, FASCP, says, “I do believe that, as women, we have to speak up. If we have a seat at the table, we have to take full advantage. There are people who will try to talk over, they will people there are people who will try to shut us down, but I think it's important that we stick to our guns, that we stay brave, and that our voices stay strong so that we can make the difference that we are destined to make.”
