ASCP Seeks Your Input to Improve Effective Test Utilization

January 12, 2022

As part of ASCP’s Choosing Wisely Initiative, the Society is seeking your input in its efforts to expand its evidence-based list of recommended tests which providers and patients should discuss to determine what medical tests are appropriate and truly necessary.

The ASCP Choosing Wisely Effective Test Utilization Steering Committee is currently developing its eighth list of evidence-based Choosing Wisely recommendations. The steering committee seeks input regarding recommendations from pathologists and laboratory professionals.

Implementation of Choosing Wisely recommendations aim to result in higher quality care, lower costs, and a more effective use of laboratory resources and personnel. ASCP is looking for recommendations across the spectrum of laboratory medicine. The Society is particularly interested in expanding its recommendations related to anatomic pathology.

Please send your suggested recommendation(s), along with rationale and supporting evidence in the form of peer-reviewed journals, using this template to Edna Garcia, MPH, Director, Scientific Engagement at: edna.garcia@ascp.org by February 9, 2022.
