ASCP Urges Congress to Extend Medicare Payment Adjustor

ASCP has joined together with the American Medical Association in signing a letter to Congress urging it to extend a 3.75-percent Medicare payment adjustment to the Physician Fee Schedule (PFS). When Congress enacted the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021, it contained several provisions to mitigate unprecedented payment cuts generated by the budget neutrality requirements associated with the Medicare PFS. A centerpiece of this effort was a 3.75-percent positive payment adjustment for all PFS services in CY 2021. Unfortunately, this policy is set to expire on December 31, 2021. With the legislative calendar waning, ASCP is joining other medical societies in urging Congress to extend the 3.75-percent adjustment through CY 2022.
